Actor Challenge: Self-Taped Audition Feedback

Self-taping is something you just can't ignore anymore if you're an actor.

If you haven't yet setup your self-taping studio space, that's your next financial savings goal.

It's ultimately cheaper than paying to be taped. 

If you're strapped for cash, then put the equipment on your gift wishlist. I got my lights, iPhone, and tripod for Christmas one year. Totally worth it.

But the hard truth is that if our self-tapes suck, they'll just get deleted or passed over by casting, and we'll never hear feedback on why.

GET FEEDBACK FROM OTHER ACTORS

We host actor challenges in our Actor Boss Facebook group every so often, and this week we're giving each other feedback on our self-tapes.

Shout out to my acting buddy Jamie who asked me to look at footage from his new self-taping studio setup, which inspired this month's challenge.

Getting self-taping feedback from fellow actors is a great way to adjust issues with your audio and lighting that you most likely won't get from a casting office cuz they ain't got time!

HOW THE CHALLENGE WORKS

I know getting feedback can be scary, but it will make your self-tapes better!

Here's the dealio:

• Join our Actor Boss Facebook group
• Tape yourself doing a slate: Name, Height, City
• Upload it to the group page
• Get feedback in the comments
• Go give feedback in the comments of other actors' posts

Just an FYI, I do ask you two questions before approving your request because I take the integrity of the group seriously.

TAKE ACTION

Commit to joining and uploading your slate by the end of Wednesday because I've noticed actors don't seem to hang on Facebook over the weekend.

Remember, we are NOT allowed to post audition footage due to copyright violations!
