This is Part 3 of 4 in the thank you cards tips series for actors.
I'm gonna bet that you have great intentions to write thank you cards, but then you let too much time pass after a gig before actually writing them.
I think you should set a deadline to send your cards, or else the timing will just be too awkward. It will actually hurt your reputation and make it look like the card was an afterthought.
If you promptly send a card, you will leave a great impression on the recipient that will make them think, "Wow! This actor is really organized."
ALWAYS BE PREPARED
We should always be ready to write thank you cards on-the-go.
My final bonus tip is to always keep thank you cards in your car.
If you don't drive, then keep some in your bag or wherever you keep your headshots. They're so small and easy to stash.
Having them within arm's reach makes it easy to write a card on the spot and drop it in the mail as soon as you leave a shoot. Don't forget to pack a few stamps, too.
I discuss how thank you card timing is everything in this post.
If you don't think writing thank you cards makes a difference, think again.
I just shot a commercial for Fortnite: Nintendo Switch, and the director took the time to find my email and respond saying "thank you so much for the kind words" and that he'd "love to work with me again."
So be sure to check out Part 4 of 4 before you start writing yours. I'll also show you how to get my fill-in-the-blank thank you card templates so you can personalize your cards in a way that prompts a response from the recipient.
